My life is busy. Between running Elan Hair Studio and being a mom to my two active children, I don’t have the time—or desire—to let hair loss dictate my day. As the Lead Stylist at Elan Hair Studio, I’ve spent years helping women navigate hair loss while also living through my own journey. I have hair loss from trichotillomania, and over the years I’ve worn just about every type of hair solution available—from mesh integration toppers to full wigs.
While each solution helped in its own way, discovering the CNC Hair System was different. For the first time, I felt like I had gotten a piece of myself back that had been missing for years.
One of the things I love most about my CNC is its natural curl pattern. My curls have always been a big part of how I see myself. All of my siblings have curly hair, and having a CNC that mimics the texture and movement of my natural hair makes me feel like myself again. I’ve lost my hair to cancer treatment 3 times. Each time I’ve been bald, and throughout the challenge of regrowth, I had difficulty recognizing myself in the mirror. Despite trying to embrace hats and wraps and even my bald head, I just couldn’t see “me” in my reflection. Cancer has impacted much of my life, in big and small ways, but it’s still been important for me to keep as much of my identity as possible. Investing in good hair hasn’t been vanity, but a way for me to see myself as whole again, apart from my illness. When I first saw my reflection wearing my Follea, I cried and said “there I am.” Having good hair, great hair, reminded me that I was still vibrant, still confident, still beautiful, through a time when I felt anything but.
